Adobe Youth Voices Aspire Awards UNICEF Challenge

For the first time ever, Adobe Youth Voices Aspire Awards has partnered up with UNICEF to give YOU the opportunity to implement active change in YOUR community. The Adobe Youth Voices Aspire Awards UNICEF Challenge is looking to provide three youth led projects with grants to support the implementation of innovative initiatives.

Submissions now open!

First prize receives $40,000. Second prize receives $30,000. Lastly, the audience award-winning project receives $20,000. All Adobe Youth Voices Aspire Awards UNICEF Challenge prize funds must be used to support the implementation of the winning projects.

Show us your imagination, creativity, and innovation through the use of digital tools and social media. Produce a short video outlining your proposal for a new or existing initiative that will benefit other youth in your community. This is your chance to make a difference in the world, report about it, and show the progress made to millions of people through the Adobe Youth Voices network, UNICEF’s global social media feeds, and the Voices of Youth community.

In addition to receiving financial funds for your project, the local experts will also provide support during the initial implementation process.

G2012 Mexico Financial Inclusion

Enabling underserved and excluded communities to participate in the formal financial sector has tremendous potential to create social and economic gains for individuals, private enterprises, and societies as a whole.

Today, 2.7 billion adults, more than half of the world’s working-age population, do not have access to financial services that would allow them to save money securely, borrow money affordably, make payments knowledgeably, and insure themselves against potential hardships or risk.

The leaders of the G20 nations recognize the importance of advancing full financial inclusion—providing every household with access to valuable, affordable, secure, and comprehensive financial services.

Access to credit, savings, and insurance would allow poor households to raise their standards of living, capitalize on opportunities, and weather tough times. On a larger scale, financial inclusion stimulates economic growth and contributes to the creation of more vibrant and stable financial systems.

Innovations and collaborative solutions are needed to make comprehensive financial services available to all. To spotlight and support these critical solutions, the G2012 Mexico and Ashoka Changemakers have partnered to launch the G2012 Mexico Financial Inclusion: Innovative Solutions for Unlocking Accesscompetition.

This competition seeks innovations that address barriers to financial inclusion, including but not limited to:

• Physical or other accessibility barriers that prevent communities from reaching financial services,
• The shortage of affordable financial products tailored to the needs of underserved and excluded communities, and
• The lack of incentives for financial service providers to continue serving low-income, poor, or marginalized communities.

Do you have an innovative solution? For example, are you using mobile technology to provide comprehensive banking services to rural communities? Are you using an innovative business model at a retail establishment that gives remote communities access to savings and cashless payments? Or, are you connecting entrepreneurs to microloans and insurance? Then we want to hear from you!

The top solution will win the grand prize of US $ 100,000.

Qualification for Application:

1. Current enrollment at a university, graduate school and working people in an ASEAN country.
2. Aged from 18 to 29 on closing date for application.
3. Ability to use English for daily conversation.
   <Criterion>
   • Earned credit(s) taught in English at a university or graduate school
   • TOEIC score: 700 points or higher
   • TOEFL score: PBT score of 550 points or higher, CBT score of 210 points or higher, iBT score of 80 points or higher
4. Healthy, physically fit individuals (outdoor activities are included in the program).
5. Participants must be able to participate in the 3-4 day Local Program from July to September, 2012 in your country and the about 10 day Global Program in October, 2012.

1. Download the application form and essay sheet.
2. Please contact the DENSO YOUTH for EARTH Action office if you are in an area without Internet access.
3. Fill in the application form with the required information, such as your motive for applying, and attach a facial photograph.
4. Compose a brief essay on the theme "What is the action plan of coexistence activity between humans and the environment you would like to conduct in your community?” (700 English words).

Who can enter?

• Demonstrate leadership and positive outcomes in a river related area (e.g. a new catchment management initiative, setting up a new waterway group) or can showcase outstanding research in a water/river related field;

• If selected as a finalist, are available to attend the 15th International Riversymposium; and

• Have completed their work within the 2011 calendar year (although work could have been commenced at an earlier date).

Recognizing Innovative and Transformative Projects 
Running in parallel with the WISE prize Education and a number of annual programs, the WISE Awards are designed to identify, showcase and promote innovative educational projects from all sectors and regions of the world to inspire change in education.
Each year, a Jury composed of leading experts from the education world selects six innovative projects for their concrete and positive impact on communities and societies. These winning projects gain global visibility and receive a prize of $20,000 (US).


Join the 2012 Competition WISE invites holders of outstanding projects from all sectors and levels of education to apply for the 2012 WISE Awards.

In addition to benefiting from the recognition of leading experts, the Finalists and Winners are given a voice through:
