Regional Partners for GYSD 2013

YSA Now Accepting GYSD 2013 Regional Partner Applications



YSA is now accepting applications from organizations around the world to serve as Regional Partners for Global Youth Service Day (April 26-28, 2013).
YSA will select and support 1-2 Regional Partners in each of the following regions with a $5,000 planning grant:
  • Latin America and the Caribbean
  • South America
  • Western Europe
  • Eastern Europe
  • Africa
  • North Africa and the Middle East
  • Asia
  • Southeast Asia
Regional Partners can be regional offices of international organizations, regional organizations or networks, or national organizations that have partners in neighboring countries. The GYSD Regional Partner program is only open to organizations outside the United States.

Regional Partners will be responsible for promoting and coordinating GYSD in their region, mobilizing partner organizations and Country Partners in their region, working with media and government officials, tracking projects, documenting GYSD with professional photography and/or videography, and assisting with grant reviews and translations. 
Regional Partners will receive a $5,000 planning grant, recognition and increased visibility, and ongoing training and technical assistance from YSA staff.
Applications are due by July 31, 2012. All applications must be completed in English. (Regional Partners need to be able to work with YSA staff on a variety of tasks that require proficient English.) Applicants will be notified of status by early September

ICERI 2012

On behalf of the Organising Committee we are glad to invite you to take part in the fifth Annual Edition of ICERI2012 (5th International Conference of Education, Research and Innovation) that will be held in Madrid (Spain) on the 19th, 20th and 21st of November, 2012.


ICERI2012 will be an International Forum for those who wish to present their projects and innovations, having also the opportunity to discuss the main aspects and the latest results in the field of Education and Research.


The general aim of the conference is to promote international collaboration in Education and Research in all educational fields and disciplines. The attendance of more than 700 delegates from 70 different countries is expected.


We invite you to submit your abstracts and to attend in order to share your achievements in the fields of education and collaborative research. The deadline for submitting abstracts is July 19th, 2012.
There will be three presentation modalities: Oral and poster presentations (in-person) and virtual (for those who can not attend in person)


Two ISBN publications will be produced with all the accepted abstracts and papers that will be included in our digital library database of innovation projects in Education and Research.

Global Youth Summit 2012 by British Council

This November, we will be bringing 60 social entrepreneurs, community activists and volunteers aged 16 to 21 to the UK for a week of training sessions and workshops. As with previous summits, applicants will be expected to submit a two-minute video describing their efforts to bring about a positive change in their communities and their ambitions on how to take this to the next level. Starting on 25 Junewe will be accepting applications on www.global-changemakers.net. Make sure to spread the word! :)

The foundation’s scholarship programs have two main areas of focus – the regular Bayer Fellowship Program for scholarship projects and placements abroad, and additional offerings aimed at specific target groups.

The regular Bayer Fellowship Program is geared to students and trainees in scientific, technical and medical disciplines. Internationalism is a central aspect of this program, and therefore the foundation grants scholarships exclusively to applicants from German-speaking countries wishing to go abroad and foreign applicants who want to come to Germany.

Indonesia Model United Nations (IndonesiaMUN) is the premier varsity level Model United Nations in Indonesia. IndonesiaMUN was first established to provide a room for students to practice their skills in diplomacy and negotiation, thus they can bring about change by learning beyond the classroom’s walls. Through IndonesiaMUN, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Universitas Indonesia is providing an avenue for varsity students to practice skills needed to express their ideas and negotiate in a competitive environment. The first IndonesiaMUN which was conducted in 2010, succeeded in bringing 182 participants from all over ASEAN including Indonesia to join the conference in 3 different committees. The second IndonesiaMUN which held in 2011 had vision in expanding the quantity as well as increasing the quality and ended with 266 participants with 5 committees.
This year, IndonesiaMUN will have its third conference which will be held 2-6 October 2012 in Universitas Indonesia, Depok and we are proud to announce that we expand to 6 committees which consist of 2 United Nations Councils, 2 Regional Forums, 1 Historical Council, and 1 Special Committee. This year theme is “Fostering People, Securing Nations” and IndonesiaMUN 2012 welcomes more than 300 talented students from renowned universities all over the world to join the conference and formulate solutions for historical, current, and futuristic issues. Asia Regional Forum 2012 by UNESCO

Participants at the conference should be individuals (ages 18-35) from all over the world who have been involved in some capacity in human rights work in their communities. During the Forum, various lectures, workshops and panel presentations are planned in areas such as grassroots organizing, building coalitions, effective communication, use of media for human rights education, and understanding of the processes and relevance of restorative justice. It is planned that discussions would be conducted under the rubric of the following principal areas: namely, poverty, education, health, conflict resolution and/or transformation, the rights and plight of children, refugees and war, hunger, HIV/AIDS, gender discrimination, peace education, environmental concerns, racism, xenophobia and other intolerances.  Discussions of these topics should be informed by understanding of the principles outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the Millennium Development Goals.

    • Propose how meeting and networking with young people from
      various parts of the world can contribute to alleviating the
      identified problem. What role can young people play in this process?
      How are or how can young people be empowered to be agents of positive change?
Essays will be judged on adherence to theme, originality and creativity.  While relevance to the theme, originality of thought and creativity in expression will be weighed above the mechanics of the composition, applicants should ensure that correct sentence structure, grammar, spelling and punctuation are strictly adhered to.
All application materials requested should be submitted in English. Please note that the Forum will be held in English and fluency in the English language is required to attend.

World Energy Forum is pleased to announce the 2012 International Energy Essay Contest. As a mission-driven movement, World Energy Forum is dedicated both to educate and campaign for long-term energy solutions by encouraging global conversations on pivotal energy issues.
Since 2012 has been declared by the United Nations General Assembly as "International Year of Sustainable Energy for All" the International Energy Essay Contest calls upon university students from around the world to participate in the movement towards an energy-secure future by presenting their thoughts on how this can be achieved.
Through this contest, World Energy Forum hopes to provide a platform for students from different backgrounds with an opportunity to share and expand their unique understanding of the worldwide urgency that must be recognized for important changes toward a safe, accessible, and sustainable energy future.
The winners of the essay contest will receive a number of prizes, including the opportunity to discuss their creative approaches for solving the world's present energy problems at the World Energy Forum's annual high-level energy conference.   • Demonstrate leadership and positive outcomes in a river related area (e.g. a new catchment management initiative, setting up a new waterway group) or can showcase outstanding research in a water/river related field;
