For an inventor company like Bayer, young up-and-coming talent is fundamental to long-term success. The Bayer Science & Education Foundation therefore attaches great importance to promoting young talent in Germany and abroad and helping them get their careers off to a good start.

The regular Bayer Fellowship Program is geared to students and trainees in scientific, technical and medical disciplines. Internationalism is a central aspect of this program, and therefore the foundation grants scholarships exclusively to applicants from German-speaking countries wishing to go abroad and foreign applicants who want to come to Germany.
The program comprises the following scholarships:
- Otto Bayer Scholarships for students studying selected natural science and engineering disciplines
- Carl Duisberg Scholarships for students of human and veterinary medicine
- Kurt Hansen Scholarships for students training to become science teachers
- Hermann Strenger Scholarships for trainees and young professionals with a non-academic background working in the areas of technology, natural sciences, health care and business
The current call for applications for the Otto Bayer, Carl Duisberg, Kurt Hansen and Hermann Strenger Scholarships is taking place during the period from June 1 to July 15, 2012. The independent Foundation Board will hold its next selection meeting on September 7, 2012.
