Bayer Fellowship Program Promoting outstanding talent 2012

For an inventor company like Bayer, young up-and-coming talent is fundamental to long-term success. The Bayer Science & Education Foundation therefore attaches great importance to promoting young talent in Germany and abroad and helping them get their careers off to a good start.

The foundation’s scholarship programs have two main areas of focus – the regular Bayer Fellowship Program for scholarship projects and placements abroad, and additional offerings aimed at specific target groups.

The regular Bayer Fellowship Program is geared to students and trainees in scientific, technical and medical disciplines. Internationalism is a central aspect of this program, and therefore the foundation grants scholarships exclusively to applicants from German-speaking countries wishing to go abroad and foreign applicants who want to come to Germany.

The program comprises the following scholarships:


The current call for applications for the Otto Bayer, Carl Duisberg, Kurt Hansen and Hermann Strenger Scholarships is taking place during the period from June 1 to July 15, 2012. The independent Foundation Board will hold its next selection meeting on September 7, 2012.

The regular Bayer Fellowship Program is complemented by special additional offerings, which currently comprise:

  • The Bayer Deutschlandstipendien – as part of the German government’s national Scholarship Program Act, the foundation sponsors 100 talented students of natural sciences or engineering at 23 German universities 
  • The Bayer Lindau Fellowships – the foundation enables selected young scientists from around the world to take part in the Nobel Laureate Meetings in Lindau 
  • The Bayer Climate Fellowships – the foundation enables schoolchildren to take part in an international science camp on environmental protection and sustainability
